The body of a woman has been recovered from the River Slaney today, near Enniscorthy.
Eyewitnesses report that a passerby bravely entered the water and helped recover the body along with Slaney Search and Rescue.
Statement from An Garda Síochana:
Gardaí and Emergency Services attended an incident at the River Slaney in Enniscorthy Town at approximately 11.30am on January 9th, 2021. The body of a woman was recovered from the water. The woman was pronounced deceased at the scene and her body was removed for Wexford General Hospital.
