Aslan Concert

There is palpable excitement in Wexford today in advance of the Aslan concert set to take place at Dun Mhuire Theatre Venue in Wexford on Sunday night of the May Bank Holiday Weekend on the 6th May.
WexfordToday.com have just learned that Bugler Doyles’s “Carryout” off-licence still has a few standing tickets left today, Saturday.”Cornerboy” are looking forward to playing lots of new material in their support of Aslan at their old stomping ground. They are really looking forward to sharing a stage with them and are excited to have the opportunity to share new music from their new album. Amongst them, they will play their new single: “Goodbye Old Holy”.
Wexford supporters from home and beyond will no doubt also be extending a very warm welcome home to “Maca”, a trio, formerly known as the “Carty Sisters”, who have been blazing a trail of on the contemporary Irish music landscape for the past couple of years. They have performed at festivals here and abroad and enjoyed fantastic receptions in the Olympia Theatre in Dublin among others.
WexfordToday.com understands that music critics and the music press here are finally beginning to take notice of “Maca” who’re widely tipped to be Ireland’s next big thing. The band comprises of sisters, Saoirse, Naoise and Ciara Carty who hail from just outside New Ross.
Aslan are an Irish rock band from Dublin who formed in 1982 with their renowned and talented vocalists and musicians comprise Christy Dignam, Joe Jewell, Billy McGuinness, Alan Downey and Rodney O’Brien.
The band has released six studio albums to date: Feel No Shame in 1988; Goodbye Charlie Moonhead in 1994; Here Comes Lucy Jones in 1997, Waiting For This Madness To End in 2001; For Some Strange Reason in 2007 and Nudie Books and Frenchies in 2012.
“This Is” was Aslan’s first hit single, and in over three decades together they have released songs such as: Crazy World, Too Late For Hallelujah, songs which have become Irish Classics.
The concert begins at 20.00 and doors will open at 19.15. There will be a full bar open in the Dun Mhuire theatre throughout the show which is also expected to be a rousing and loyal support of Aslan, who last performed here to a sold-out concert at The River Bank House Hotel Wexford, as well as a huge tribute to our own Wexford artists.
