Wexford FC have today released a statement in response to the news that they will be deducted 4 points as a result of fielding an ineligible player.
An investigation has now decided that the player in question, Ola Adeyemo, was ineligible to play meaning Wexford are deemed to have lost all four games he played in on a scoreline of 3-0.
Wexford FC, who are bottom of the League of Ireland First Division, lost 2-0 to Shamrock Rovers II and 4-0 to Cobh Ramblers, beat Athlone Town 3-1 and drew 0-0 with Cabinteely. They will be deducted the 4 points gained in the Athlone and Cabinteely games.
